Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic massage. It stimulates the flow of the lymph through the one-way drainage pathways within the body - the lymphatic system. Lymph is a clear fluid that you may notice when you cut yourself; it moves water, protein, white blood cells and electrolytes around the body beneath the skin.
Stimulating the lymphatic system's activity results in a better detoxification of the body, and can clear excess fluid built up in the body's tissues. It is also relaxing and pain relieving, while stimulating cell activity and enhancing the regeneration of tissue. As such, it can be used in a preventative or remedial way. Manual lymphatic drainage massage is also particularly beneficial during pregnancy; being non invasive and with no side effects, it is completely safe.
